Flounder Gigging Charter

Freeport Flounder Gigging - A Texas Tradition

Flounder gigging in Freeport is a Texas tradition that lets you experience the best of night time fishing and hunting. Our Freeport Flounder Gigging Charters generally start 30 minutes before dusk, and is a 5 hour trip unless we limit out sooner.  After seeing a beautiful sunset over the Bay, we will turn on the lights, and begin hunting flounder, black drum, BaySnapper, blue crabs and more.

During these night expeditions, you’ll stalk the bay floor from a custom built flounder gigging boat with halogen and led lighting for the optimum gigging experience. Using these powerful lights, you’ll illuminate the bay floor hunting for the flounder that have seamlessly blended into their surroundings waiting to ambush their prey of mullet, shrimp or other small prey as they swim past.

Once spotted, you’ll use a sharp spear to gig them and lift them into the boat. In addition to flounder, you’ll have the opportunity to gig blue crabs, black drum and sheepshead and Stingarees (in warmer months) to name a few other species. The best way to describe flounder gigging charter is a little fishing and a little hunting all wrapped up into an awesome nighttime adventure for men, women and kids alike. One trip out and you’ll be hooked. Book a Flounder Gigging Charter with Captain Greg, and experience the thrill of flounder gigging at night.

Freeport Lodging is available, and often the boats will pick you up from the lodge.  Trips start at $700
